Sources
Every work this project carries, what it rests on, and the rights under which
we hold it. Rights are recorded per layer: a permissive statement about a
scan does not license the photographs inside the book.
A source here is a distinct work. Beneath it sit its editions (a particular
translation or printing), and beneath those its witnesses — the actual
manuscripts and tablets. A witness can be catalogued without being held, and the difference
is shown, not glossed.
